Mike McGowan, a lifelong Omaha resident and retired utility industry
executive, is running for a seat on the Metropolitan Utilities District
Board of Directors.
Mike is the only candidate with extensive utility industry experience.
During his 36-year career with Northern Natural Gas in Omaha, Mike
was responsible for buying, selling and transporting natural gas. He
also was responsible for rate design, regulatory affairs and human
resources.
When Mike joins the MUD Board of Directors, he will put his
business experience and industry knowledge to work for the Omaha
ratepayers and employees of MUD. Mike will:

along with fellow members of the MUD Board and MUD employees
to ensure Omaha’s ratepayers continue to receive safe, reliable,
natural gas and water services at the lowest cost possible.

- develop and propose new rate and billing options to provide
ratepayers more control over their price paid for natural gas;
- aggressively monitor and review costs to keep gas and water
rates at lowest possible level;
- assure the successful completion of the multi-year, major
capital campaign to replace aging natural gas and water
mains;
- ensure a viable long-term strategy exists to provide plentiful
and safe supplies of water well into the future; and
- make available his 36 years of business experience to assist in
effectively meeting any future business challenges.
Mike is aware of the challenges facing MUD and wants to work
along with fellow members of the MUD Board and MUD employees
